TRIUND-The gateway to HIMALAYAS

"Mountains are calling. ..and i must go "  -Jhon Muir

We are in love with mountains  whenever our souls and mind demands to recharge and relish, heart says the same.."Mountains are calling...lets go".After Manali, kashmir,Dallhousie and sikkim once again were heading towards himalyan peaks but this time it was  planned for hiking and trekking.

TRIUND

Triund is jwel of Mcleodganj(Himachal Pradesh). It has spectacular daulladhar ranges at one side and kangra valley at the other, its about 12 km trek from the city, though provides an option to start from Gallu devi temple chek post which reduces the trail to 7.5km.Trekking us splited in two phases one from Gallu devi to Triund  (7.5 km) and second phase starts from Triund(11000 fts apporx)towards snowline(12000fts)crossing indrahar pass ,lasha caves and lakha glacier, which adds few more kilometres uphill.

We persuaded our expidition to triund from Gallu devi chekpost on 25th May 2017 around 7 in morning. We need to deposit  photocopy of our id cards and the basic information like name, contact details are registered here. They assign us  the batch/group number.

We were bit worried and ambiguous to climb up with our 3 yrs kid Lavit.Triund trail is moderately difficult for experts and extreme difficult for the beginners. The trail is all of rocks and bolders to add more thrill it has got sharp and steep turns. But inspite of the increasing difficulty levels of the trek,Lavit climbed up with full energy and enthusiasm and soon became the cynosure of the group. This surely pleased us,even the experts asked us to train him for his skills were proving that he will climb extreme hights, soon all our perplexities vanished.

The trail has got few cafes on the way to energise and relax with eyegasmic sights the of the valley. It will surely invoke the photographer in you,so be ready with fully charged camera and memory cards. The chripping of birds and the soughing breez gives the eternal bliss and You realise somewhere far the at the slience, moutains has got all your answers which gives you the reason to move forward.Just make sure to maintain a moderate trekking speed and shorten the number of breakpoints during inital hours.

Wheather all the way to triund keeps treaking you.The soothing misty breeze accompanied with light showers may turn into thundrous rains with hails so its unpredictable one has to be ready for all extremes.Hence, its better to carry emergency raincoats to be saved. With every passing kilometer temperature keeps falling so one must carry woolens as per need.Triund splashes three shades according to the season its white-covered with snow in winters and pink with the rohdodendron flowers in atumn and lush green in summers and rains. And yes with season  wheather conditions and challenges also change.

We could see our destination on the top after crossing the magic veiw cafe and we estimated it should  take an hour to reach but soon we realised that we were fooled the more we climbed the farther it seemed,we learnt not to measure the mountain from distance. The more we climbed  closed to the destination trails were more crooked, difficult and challenging. It is rightly said
"The mountains have there own way to crush the overconfidence. "😀
we might have crossed 20s sharp sleek tiering turns by now.The last 1 km was extreme difficult as there was no trail we were almost rappelling on steep rocky mountain it took 2hrs and finally after 5hrs of toil, around 12 in noon we were at the place we wished to be "Triund-zero point" ready to embrace the beauty of the place.

"Its not mountain we conquer but ourselves -Sir Edmud Hillary"

Yes !we did it ,we were on the top conquering our fears, lossing all pains, leaving all turbulances behind, filling every nerve and pore with tranquility, compassion and love. This is what you exactly feel light and enlightened belive me.The giant snow peaks (Camel, metron and the moon peaks) of dauladhar ranges were giving us the silent lessons of what life is all about, its  not acheieving its conquering our fears its about forgiveness its about crossing difficulties its about having faith its about love and peace.Words are falling short for the expressions here.
We were glued at the place stunned to have panoramic views. For the first time i witnessed the dramatic nature's act,i could see the white little cloud forming from melting snow and soon turned into big heavy thundrous cloud. The place was covered with mist and hazy wind,we were soon with our cozy tents, the crackling and whistling sound was pretty scary,Rains continued approximately for 30 min,we could hear the wawaoo sound and praising words of the other trekkers which pulled us out from the tents and wohaaa!the peaks were completely covered with fresh snow what an amazing scenic beauty it was,sky was clear and the nature's game between snow and the sunshine triggered again the clouds were formed followed by the thundrous rains the cycle continued till the sunset, soon we witnessed the golden twilight followed by  glittering sky with millions of twinkling diamonds.Night view was equally beautiful,No one can stop the passing hours but i wished i could.Temperature started freezing dramatically it droped to 5 degrees in night nevertheless we were at comfort  around the bonfire enjoying few spanish melodies as we were with a group of foreign tourists.

Well its not the end next day many of the trekkers started for the snowline early morning,we choose to enjoy sunrise with the masala tea and Maggie...lol 😁 and decided to climb down, back to Mcleodganj.Climbing down is also not that easy it took 4hrs 30 min to reach gallu devi check post.

Triund took our heart, the unforgettable experience and a part of us will always be there with the gigantic peaks.
