Bhagsu is small village north east to Mcleodganj (Himachal Pradesh).Provides the scenic trekking to the famous waterfalls via Bhagsunag temple.Its around 3 km (one way) from Mcleodganj.You can get taxis/cab to the temple for 300 bugs but i would recommend go walking.So as to have insights of culture and serenity of the place.And offcourse you will be saved wasting time in traffic jams.As the motarable path,the Bhagsu road crosses from the indo-tibeten market.

After crossing about a kilometer you are away from hustles of market and can enjoy the panaromas of snow peaks of daulldhars and few shivallik hills.The the traditional folk tunes played by few artists on road compels you to seat fir a while and feel the rythms deep in your heart.
You won't even realise and will reach the Bhagsu nag temple enjoying walking.The riad is lineed up with many hwakers selling momos and other yummy street foods which are real treats to you taste buds.
Bhagsunag temple -The story
Its a mythological story with its origin dated some 5000 years ago.It is said that there was a king known as Bhagsu who was in journey to search water for his kindom ,struggling with drought.Bhagsu on his search found the nag lake(nag dal) at this place ruled by nagas (the snakes).Bhagsu with his magical powers took all the water in his camandel and tried to escape.But soon the fact came uder k the knowledge of the naga king and he fought with Bhagsu.It is said that the camandel fell during the fight and water rolled down as falls from the mountains.After getting defeated by Naga, Bhagsu pleaded Naga to let the water flow continously so that his territory shall not face the drought.Naga king agreed and allowed water flow all round the year.
The place is named after these two kings BhagsuNag.It is basically a panch mukhi shiva temple engineered by king Dharamchand at the start of kalyuga.The temple is famous for its unique swimming pool,which is believed to have sacred water with healing medicinal properties.The pool is well maintained and clean.
Trek to the waterfall
Well from temple there starts the real trail(1km one way) to the famous bhagsu nag waterfalls.The trek is slipery,steep and treched from one side.Yeah! the real trek ,though its safe as shielded with fences to save you.Its a moderate trek and can easily be climbed with children.
It takes 20 to 25 min to reach the falls.The fall is stretched to 20 meters,tumbling down through the rocky outcrops.The ice cold water and serenity of the place will have a memorable imprints on heart.
